How we arrived at this point…
The seeds of this trip for service began when Heather journeyed to India in January 2005 as part of a Rotary International Group Study Exchange. This program allows young professionals to travel to another country for a month and observe their vocation. She traveled to rural northeastern India and saw unbelievable poverty and masses of people in need of hope. God planted a dream in her heart to return and serve in some context with David one day. Last summer, when we attended the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship General Assembly in June 2007, we met the Cokie and Jay Westfall, our hosts for our team in Bangalore! A divine appointment for sure. Heather has also contacted some of her friends from her previous trip to set up service opportunities in North India. God has woven so many strands together into a beautiful tapestry as he has brought Heather’s dream to a reality! God is good, all the time. All the time… God is GOOD!
Heather was called away from a career as a music teacher to enter ministry in April of 2007. She now serves as the Minister to Children at FBC Elizabeth City and is a full time student at Campbell Divinity School. Heather is also a scholar for the World Religions and Global Cultures Center.
David serves as a deacon at First Baptist and is employed as a planner with Currituck County, NC. He is often found at church making music in the praise band or choir and helping with the children’s ministry- arms full of juice boxes and cheese toast.
